apple G5 which is better Can't Post

if money is an issue, what is better:

bigger chip set (3.0)and less memory 2 gb OR

smaller chip set (2.66) and more memory 4gb

First of all, think MacPros not G5. MacPro is the new G5 :)

Really, it depends on the apps and activity. In most cases of rendering like for example, AE or even Motion, more memory will be more important. IT has been said that each core needs at least 1 gig of ram to be efficient in multi cpu rendering so, 4 gigs of ram in a 2.66 should in theory be better than 2 gigs in a 3.0. Also, I have seen the overall performance between the 2.66 and the 3.0 to be negligible compared to the overall performance upgrade the Xeons offer.
