creating video from flash? Can't Post

Does anyone know how to convert FLVs to HD Video while maintaining the alpha channels?

Do you mean a SWF or FLV?

You can't go form FLV to HD resolution very gracefully. However, you could do so with SWF files as they *should* be vector.

Your options would be to export a still sequence from Flash at the chosen resolution or to import the SWF into After Effects and scale it.

I am working with SWFs. So it's good to know that I can bring them into AE. But will the alpha channels transfer?

Yes, they should. the only hitch is if the swfs have been protected from import. Then you are hosed :P

Okay, I can scale them outside of AE in flash player. BUt when I bring them into AE and try to scale them, they get fuzzy as if they have lost their vector-ness. Wha-ha-happened?

Make sure you have selected "Continuos rasterization" on the swf layer. It will fix that problem. Read here for more info.

I realized that CS2 can't do that. It only does that with Illustrator files. So I got CS3 and NOW IT WON"T WORK AT ALL! ARRRGGGHHH!!!! I'll keep trying though.

Well, they import, but when I put them in the comp, they don't play back right, even after I render it.

It may be an incompatibility of frames rates. Often flash files are set at 12 or 15 fps as that keeps the file size down and is easier for alder cpus to playback.

Do you have a link to the swfs available?

I do not, but is there a work around? Maybe re-exporting from flash to 30 fps?
