crossing a project from G5 to intel Can't Post

In FCP, can you start a project in Final Cut on a G5 and continue to work on it on an intel machine?

I've never done it but have read that you shouldn't switch during a project when upgrading to latest software (i.e. FCP 4 to FCP5). I would suggest not switching over until you're finished with the current project just to stay on the safe side.

Why run the risk?

Not a problem! Especially if you're using 5.1.1 on the G5 and Intel both! Otherwise, once you go to the Intel machine, it'll make you upgrade the project, thus, never being able to return to the G5. But you can bring everything over to the Intel version of FCP with no problems at all. I've actually done this with three projects so far, none had problems. Just don't delete anything on the G5 until the project is done, to be safe.

Hey Joe, good to see you the other week.

We've done this several times as we started projects on one system then need to bring them over to another system (intel) to complete them. We've had some major problems, however I think the main reasons include the fact that many of the filters we use are not "universal" and we hadn't updated to the most current version of FCP universal.
