final cut pro vs. premiere Can't Post

I just got a new 400 mhz G4 and have a Sony TRV-310 Digital 8 camcorder. What is the best dv software? IS FCP worth the $1k? I have edited lots of analog video in college, but have not used NLE systems, yet... Thanks!

Final cut pro is the real thing. i started in non linear with a media 100 back in 1994. i have extensive experience with after effects and premiere. i still have my media 100 (which costs 40k at the time) however, i just put together a final cut pro system for less than 5k. i got my copy on ebay for $500. fully registerable. to add more hard drives, by the promax card from promax, then go to egghead.com to buy the drives.

I used Premiere for years. First 4.2 then 5.0-5.0.1c.
Freezes, crashes, problems, problems, problems.
I tries FCP. A few problems but easily solved. Now flawless.
I have a G4/450. No fireWire yet but use the Aurora Fuse capture card
with my Hi8 cameras. I'm getting great results.
You have a G4 and FCP is made for it.
Expect a fairly steep leraning curve but this is NLE and
no matter what you have the learning is there.
Hunker down, spend the time, do the tutorials (3 times ea.)
After that it'll be easy.

Re: Aurora Fuse Review [In reply to] Can't Post

Marc,
I am curious about the Aurora Fuse card. It sounds to good to be true. I want an analog video capture card and the specs on the card says it can do 9mb a sec. That is as good as the media100 le I am currently using at work. Can you give a little more info about the fuse, why you like it, where to pruchase it, any other suggestions. Thanks for you time.
