may day! may day! Audio problems w/ Premiere 5 Can't Post

I am using Premiere 5.1 LE with Moto DV firewire card connected through a Sony TRV 7000 to my VCR and then finally to my TV/Monitor. Using a desktop G3 (beige). When I assemble clips in premiere and then "build/compile" them in to quicktime movies distortion shows up in the audio of the finished movie. When I then bring that same clip back in to premiere to combine it with other clips I have done the same to the audio gets even worse. At this point I am going to go over all settings again to review and also maybe put back some of the orignal clips to check them out, but right now I am approaching hysteria. I am editing a movie and it needs to be done by the end of the week. Having to reassemble will be a night mare. HELPPPP! Please!!!!
