: any suggestions?? will xtra drives be necessary? thank-you. No matter how much hard drive space you have, you will always end up needing more. But contrary to what I always read on the net, ATA/66 drives work great for digital video. My Western Digital 27 gig drive has yet to let me down, even though my machine only supports ATA/33. In fact, it is 4 times faster then my (more expensive) 9 gig SCSI drive! (both are 7200 rpm, both using built-in connectors on a beige G3) UltraFast Wide SCSI may still be nessisary for uncompressed NTSC, but for DV, ATA is great. The cost difference between ATA and SCSI gets absolutely ridiculous at larger drive sizes, so you can save yourself a HUGE chunk of money by getting an ATA drive.
