print to video - G4, Sony DCR-PC1, Premiere 5.1c	Can't Post

I'm using Premiere 5.1c (with the firewire VD device 1.1 plugin) with a G4, and a Sony DCR-PC1.
Capturing: no problem,
editing: no problem,
but printing back to video doesn't work:
when choosing
1) export-> print to video, nothing happens
2) export-> export to tape, the camera starts recording and at the end of the film stops, but nothing is really going through, just black.
anyone found a solution?
I need to print to VHS, thought of printing first to DV but evidently if it doesn't work I'll need to find a way to print directly to VHS from the G4.

try downloading the latest version of firewire 2.3.3
