video on CD-rom and DVDs/details, details, PLEASE Can't Post

system: beige G3,300, enough ram and hd space
acquisition in DVcam.
friend/customer has a short sales promo/video and wants a local
"tag" put on it. he'd like to have it "duped" on CDvideo so
he could hand out copies when he calls on businesses.
i realize that video for CD and DVD requires MPEG encoding
and appropriate "burners". BUT WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY?
ProMax is coming with a real time card soon and offer a DVD
burner (Panasonic or Pioneer i think) but the end products
need to be fairly "universally readable". obviously, the CD
video should play on about any CD player in any computer.
ARE THERE SUCH BEASTS?
Thanks in advance for any/all help and suggestions. a post on
the "tech board" got an offer to buy my Mac. :o i'm starting
to like the thing and anticipate a second NLE booth sometime
this summer. could go to a G4 450 but darned near EVERYTHING
seems to be coming out for PCs. :(

Hi, DVD is expensive and requires hardware, a DVD-R writer is about 5.000$.
VideoCD is cheap and you can use astartes free software for encoding, search for MPEG export on www.download.com, Burn it as a VCD in Toast and you are ready!
