Re: [casvideos.com] Cold Calling [In reply to] Can't Post

1. Introduce yourself.
2. Ask if they have a few minutes to speak with you. If they say no, ask what would be a better time to call them back.
3. Briefly describe one or two things that your services can do to help them. (Not, "We do film to video transfers", but "We can protect the investment you've made in movie film and still images, and make it more accessible.")
4. Ask them if they'd like to know more, and offer to send them a demo.\
5. Ask them if they have any projects in mind that you could discuss with them. If so, set up a place and time for a meeting.
6. Ask them for their contact info (email, snail mail). Even if they don't bite now, touch base with them every few months with a call, email, or mail flyer. Keep them aware of your existence.
7. Thank them for their time.

Re: [casvideos.com] Cold Calling [In reply to] Can't Post

If you're talking about cold calling businesses, that's quite a challange. Your goal may be to talk directly with the Director of Marketing, but he or she often has a secretary (gatekeeper) whose job it is to prevent you from talking with the Director of Marketing. And this secretary is usually pretty good at it. So you may have to leave an intriguing message. "Would you tell Mr. Smith that my company produces highly effective marketing videos for as little as $2000."

I'll tell him.

Can I give you my phone number if he would like more information? Thanks very much. My name's Bob. What's yours? OK Jenny, I'll give you a call next week just to check back.

There are books written about cold calling. You do want to write a script and work from a database or contact manager so you can take notes of promising conversations and know when and if to call back.

In my experience cold calling businesses is a burn out. It's very hard work. You have to have the stamina to make 1000 calls in a week or so. I find direct mail a much more effective way to prospect.
