Advice On How To Do Video Yearbooks Can't Post

Does anyone out there do video yearbooks for schools that could give me advice about how to market them and whether they can be done without me shooting any video myself? Could I have the schools themselves provide the video and still photos and I would edit it all together? I also see a problem in trying to do several at one time since most schools graduate at about the same time. That's a lot of work crammed into a very narrow window of time to deliver the finished products to everyone at about the same time of year. And who do you contact at each school? Who's in charge of handling or approving the hiring of someone to do their video yearbook? How do you market it? Phone calls with follow up demo reel? Personal meetings following phone calls? Direct mail? I have lots of questions and somebody out there is a seasoned veteran at this and can help. Let us all learn from your experience. Thank you.

Jim, I have recently been layed off by IBM in Vermont
and I am looking into starting a business that would
produce videos/dvd high school year "books". Is this
the direction that you are heading in?

actually I also have been trying to find out the same information
as you. There are a few california based companies that are providing
this service in conjuction with book yearbooks. If the school has a video dept
you could discuss it with them.If you have a friend whose a teacher
you could get info sent to him/her from any current yearbook company
but they will only send the info to a school address. if you find anything
out I would appreciate some feedback, thanks Mike, videographer.

Dear sir, My production company actually specializes in the production
of Video Yearbooks. To answer your question, 1st getting into making
video yearbooks is like trying to pick a moltent hot lava rock from a pool
of steaming hot water. It is hard and Very Very frustrating. My production company
Videos, Edit, Produce and Spend our own money at no profit to the school system.
We even sometimes give money back to the schools. Here is steps on how to create a video yearbook
1. Hype Lots of Hype, this reason is that no one on this planet has ever conquered a VHS 2 hour yearbook with
tons of awesome songs and a great theme besides us. 1st you need about 20 grand to pull it off.
2. The price for each video needs to be 15 dollars, students wont buy if anymore than this.
3. Create unbelievable promotional videos and show it to the entire student body at one and answer quesions.
4. TAKE MONEY UP FRONT AFTER THE PRODUCTION OF THE PROMOS
5. Promos can be from 5 to 10 minutes in length
6. Stragetize what to film and what not to film SCHOOL LIFE
IS ALWAYS BEST AND THATS WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO SEE
7. Sell an attachement with the video! for example a HUGE hit for us is that we sell a 2 hour
concert for an extra 10 bucks. and Make a Season highlight video from only the sports and sell it to the community after the sale of the Video Yearbook
8. Get in newspapers and as many print publications as possible to knowledge people about what you are doing.
9. Be as Creative as possible and make sure you get in Emotional and Comedic clips.
