Blogging Your Way To Business Success! Can't Post

A few weeks ago, when I was casting disparaging remarks
about blogging on the VU forums, I could not have imagined
it would come to this. Not only have I gotten my mind
right about the usefulness of blogging -and subsequently
updated my own business blog (see it here), but I've
also joined with video business owner John Easton in an
endeavor that, used correctly, will help you grow your
business AND educate your clients (which can only mean
good things for you).

(I think we'll nominate that paragraph for The
Longest Sentence In A VU Post Award
.)

At any rate, John came up with a neat idea to illustrate
the collaborative benefit of blogging -and it's an
idea you can use to help promote YOUR video business,
too. John published a post on his blog that asks for
video professionals to post their best tips for
using video as a tool to market and grow a business.

Check it out at www.tinyurl.com/27rrxp

Our goal here is to collectively create a comprehensive
tips list - one so compelling that any business owner
who's looking to grow his/her business (which should
be any business) will be presold on why video is such
a good bet, and will be actively ready to find a good
video production resource.

And that, of course, should be you.

:::

Not only is this making for an interesting blog,
but each one of us can copy the posts and use
them to market his/her business. (Imagine an
ebook titled The Top 100 Ways to Use Video to
Explode Your Sales
' and you've got the idea. Heck,
we've already created the cover for this!)

The diversity of input from around the world is
sure to generate a comprehensive and compelling
list of tips. This should serve each of us well.

Additionally, we'll pass on our collective knowledge
to an audience that needs to know what we already
know ... video is one of the best ways to market
any business, since it shows value rather than simply
talks about it.

If you'd like to participate in this project, the blog
is now open at http://www.tinyurl.com/27rrxp

Remember -we're not looking for blatant self-promotion
(i.e. "We are the BEST! Shop Here First!") but rather,
some helpful tips from the experts (you) on how people
can better utilize today's media to build their businesses.

Happy posting!

LaughLaugh Yeah, there seems to be a lot of that on VU these days, when it comes to getting people to visit their blogs....or their MySpace page for that matter. It's pretty shameful, IMHO. Laugh

Good luck with your endeavor!

WTF have you done to that cat picture? Did you get fed up and make cat slippers out of them? Either that or it really needs to go on a diet! Your cityscapes are really good you know.

This is actually a really awesome project! It's innovative and if used properly, can be used as a tool to promote your business. I believe John Easton, the organizer of the original blog post and brain behind the concept, stated it was okay for you to use the ideas posted on the blog in your own marketing/sales materials. Talk about a great source for information that will help you close sales in a hurry. Steve Y., correct me if I'm wrong on the permissions for that, but I think that was John's intent.

If you have ideas, please post one on the link Steve gave above. Plus, take the time to read the posts that are already there. I know I got several ideas on how to pitch video to clients that I had never thought of before.

Re: [krissimmons] Blogging Your Way To Business Success! [In reply to] Can't Post

Afternoon, Kris...

It's our intent -when the blog is closed sometime around mid-May -to put a book
together that gives the individual contributors full credit and contact information.
We'll pull out all the stops when we publicize the book and anyone is free to
distribute it to clients and prospects, whether or not they're in the resource.
I'd hand 'em out like candy even if I wasn't a contributor, merely to let my
prospects and clients know that I've got their best interests at heart!

In a perfect world, anyone who uses these tools for business -and there is
some wonderful information here! -would give credit to the authors. Of course,
it's up on the web and it's available...but if I were going to take them as
my own, I'd certainly rewrite them thoroughly. We've all seen how frustrating
it is when someone swipes our website designs, our wedding demos, our copy
and our photos and tries to pawn 'em off as their own...not cool.

While I've got the floor -if you haven't contributed...DO SO! The blog itself
is getting some great exposure and you never know who's going to be calling
you because they read this thing and you're in their trade area.
