Brochures Can't Post

I've been going thru the posts about brochures. It raises alot of questions for me. I have been doing photo montages for only a fe months now, and I need to gain exposure. I was thinking of having brochures printed and placing them at locations that allow advertising, mailing them out locally, handing them out at trade shows/craft fairs, and always having them with me (as well as my business cards) in case I meet someone interested in my services. Here are some questions I have for you guys that utilize brochures:
1. What software do you use to design your brochure?
2. What format do you use?
- bifold, trifold, post card, etc...
3. What information do you include in your brochure?
- the "what does your brochure have in it?" thread was very helpful
4. Where do you get your brochures printed?
- i saw vistaprint.com and 4over4.com on the other threads?
- what about local places like office max or office depot?
5. How do you circulate your brochures?

Thanks you very much for any input!

1. What software do you use to design your brochure? I use photoshop. Get the dimensions from the print shop based on the type of format you use.
2. What format do you use?
trifold
3. What information do you include in your brochure? Short "About Me" section where I introduce myself (inside pg1) Short introduction to my company and why I am different (inside pg1) Packages (very brief description and price) (inside pages 2 & 3) Contact info, website, phone numbers on outside page that folds in
4. Where do you get your brochures printed?
Staples runs specials on color copies on regular copy paper...but they will bite ya on the folding, so I upgrade the quality of the paper and hand fold. It's more effort, but the finished product looks much nicer. I hand fold while I catch up on TV (when I have a minute to catch a show here and there). I have gotten business card magnets from Vista Print adn I have been very happy with them, I don't know how they are for pamphlets 5. How do you circulate your brochures?
We send out a "Welcome Package" to clients and we include a brochure in that, hand them out at expos, and I keep them in my bag for guerilla marketing
Hope that helps! Jen

Re: [txbonfire] Brochures [In reply to] Can't Post

OK, I'm with you on this one in that I am planning on mass producing my first brochure and trying to come to grips with the layout and information so I can get it out to the public. Quite frankly I am happy with the layout but I am not sure if I like the content. I can answer some of your questions (see below).

1. What software do you use to design your brochure?
I used Photoshop CS to design my brochure and I used a brochure template I downloaded from vistaprint.com (VP). VP can take a PSD upload, but if you have a lot of layers like I did, they want upload the file. So I converted to PDF within photoshop.
2. What format do you use?
- bifold, trifold, post card, etc... VP's standard brochure is tri-fold.
3. What information do you include in your brochure?
- the "what does your brochure have in it?" thread was very helpful
I need to check this thread, but I tried to create an informational borchure about why videotaping makes sense, and a little about my company.
4. Where do you get your brochures printed?
VP runs lots of specials that lets you try stuff for free. I got 25 brochures, had to pay for the upload charge and shipping. Total cost was about $18. Not a bad cost to try before you order 1000 brochures. I will tell you that I was extremely pleased with the finished product.
- i saw vistaprint.com and 4over4.com on the other threads?
- what about local places like office max or office depot?
5. How do you circulate your brochures? The one local video magazine in the area will hand out my brochure at local wedding shows. The second magazine told me that they would do the same thing for a price.

I 'd be happy to send you a .pdf to take a look at, but I prefer not to post it on the site.

Good luck.

I have gotten some of the magnets, but now worry that sending them in close contact with a DVD might degrade the DVD through magnetism. Any thoughts? Jim

I would not think that magnets would effect a dvd, considering the media is burned in there, opposed to a video tape.

Just today I saw that I had stored some of the magnets next to my DVD demo. The demo played without problems. I think you are right. Thanks, Jim
