Business Promotional Video Help Can't Post

There is a local bakery here that does a lot of wedding cakes. They have a big 50” Plasma TV inside the business that they were showing a crappy video of their cakes (it was just a PowerPoint presentation. I have offered to do a promotional video for them to show on the TV for free. I do this because it is a family member who owns the store and also because I’m a starting a new Videography company. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions as to what to show, how to arrange it, etc.

I was thinking of doing a short in the footage of “Have you ever wondered how your cake is actually made?” In this I would go from the baking to the decorating and a little explanation, about the process. The rest of the video would just be wedding cakes at different angles, zooming in, still shots, and transitions to music.

What kind of licenses or copyright procedures would I have to do to make sure that we can play the music they want and what can we do to make this video look really nice and make people want to buy their wedding cakes from this bakery?

Thanks for any help,

Travis

Didn't you mean "bakerymusic.com"?? CoolCool

Seriously, I would use commercially available music, rather than music suggestions from the client. It avoids all the hassles about copyright clearances. Do check out Music Bakery, they are one of the more popular libraries.

Hi

If, for instance, they want a Shania Twain song, you will need to contact the publisher of her songs and ask them for permission. They will ask you what context the song will be played in and based on your answer, they will give you a price.... I wonder however, if putting a song on this video is a good idea... It will probably play over and over all day, redering these poor bakers mad... Further more, the moving images are way more important than audio in this case since it will be mostly viewed by people walking by on the street, where the sound won't be heard anyway... That is, of course, if the bakery is on street from property... You can also include an audio track and tell the bakers to turn the volume to zero when they fet-up with it...
