Re: Copyright issues

: I am in a quandry aboutsome racing video I shot two years ago under an agreement with a race track promoter. This promoter was recently "released", to put it nicely, from his duties and sent packing. Now the owner of the track is insisting that I not produce, or sell, any copies of the tapes even though I did it the previous year and throughout this past year. I am not sure where I stand on this. I know the material is copywritten to me upon creation, however I have not submitted my copy to the Office of Copyrights in D.C. Should I go ahead with this step and see if I have been beaten to the punch, or cut my losses and considered it a lesson learned? Anyone with knowledge, or experience, in this matter that could advise me on this would be considered a good friend. Thanking you in advance. : Sincerely, : Ted Baber The law does not recognize any rights you have unless you copyright and register the video. Do this. I doubt seriously if "you have beaten to the punch". Do you have a written release from the previous manager? If not, I would forget it.
