DVD-R publishing Can't Post

Has anyone had any good experience distributing DVD-R copies of their work?
I have more & more customers asking me for DVD's, but they are totally confused by the playback/incompatibility issue, which is why I have stayed away from it till now.

We've had good luck transferring video to dvd for clients and make duplications. For the last year, at my former employer, we transferred to dvd+r and never had anyone come back saying that it wasn't compatible.
Just a month ago, I opened Duplication Media and we transfer to dvd-r and do 4X duplications. We haven't had any returns and I tell my clients that they're not 100% compatible.
I tested some dubs on older dvd players and the dvd+rs didn't play on all of them while the dvd-rs did.
I can play them on dvd players and computer dvd drives.

Hi Tom,
The problem with the DVD-R is that older DVD players do not or rarely
play them, I have had problems with this in the past. In addition, its the type of
DVD-R that your duplicator uses for copies. There are A,B,and C quality,
the cheaper the DVD-R the higher potential for problems.I did a job and used
low quality DVD-rs, half would not work in certain players so I changed
quality and had no problem with play.
Really,I think DVD is the way to go these days. Cheaper than VHS dups and CD-R's
are to small to carry much data especially video data.
Good luck, jes

what brand of DVD-r media are you using? I am producing 175 dvd-r's for a client and I am worried about compatability issues.

Re: [X-Tom] DVD-R publishing [In reply to] Can't Post

I have been selling my dvd-r all over the world without any problems I tend to sway my hypnotic fan base to use their computers to view the dvds because my format is pal and and not ntsc..

I put this Note on my site and also tell people who ask about the dvd formats

The Format Of The DVD is PAL not NTSC

Note* I have sold many dvds to America and other countrys that are not Pal, some people play my dvds in their home system but most use their home computer to view them, using the software below.

Your DVD drive in your computer will be able to play a PAL or NTSC DVD. A standalone player is another story. Most PAL DVD players can play NTSC disks, but not as many NTSC DVD players can play PAL discs.

DVD-R disks can be played back in most set top & computer based DVD players.I am confident that if you were to take My DVD-R Hypnosis Show disk I created today to your local electronics superstore, it would play on over 95% of the DVD players there.

How to play DVD, in Windows
To play a DVD you need a software DVD Player, then it is just to insert the DVD in your DVD-ROM and hit Play using any player like PowerDVD or WinDVD. Real Player
If you have problem playing DVD on your computer try different video player software, in Windows try WinDVD or PowerDVD.
With the correct DVD Player Software, you will be able to enjoy your favorite Hypnosis Show on your PC trouble-free.More and more computers today are multi-media-ready, but did you know the video viewing experience could be taken to a completely new level? Learn more about DVD Player Software

I hope that helps
