Re: Depositions

Can't Post
: This is my first posting. I just received a call today from someone who wants me to videotape a deposition tomorrow. He doesn't care that I really haven't done it before but I want to be prepped. This is in Houston, Texas. Can ANYONE please give me advice on what to expect. What forms, logs, etc that I would need to have on or off camera. The camera is a mini DV and a UHF wireless (lavalier -- would I need to have anything else if other people are talking -- the mic should pick up other voices but maybe not as crisp as the deponent's). I know asking a-z is asking a lot in such a short time frame, but this seems to be a good opportunity to delve into something new in the video business (I've been doing special events on a freelance basis and looking to do this full time and expand into other areas). : Any help or advice is appreciated. Hi, first off do not do a depo with out the proper equipment, you will need among other things at least four mics a mixer, lighting, backdrop,a monitor, a VCR to make the copy for them, rightthere, This is not a point and shoot stuation but a legal and binding video that may hold you liabel if it is not done correctly, your footage could be the make or break of a legal situation. Go to legalgroups@yahoo.com. this is a great room for this biz, also pick up Hals shooting depos information at videouniversity, a great primer. It got me int olooking into this business as well. E-mail me privately if you need more info. jes
