For those who attended Video 07, Steve Yankee provided a template for a home town News Release. All you have to do is fill in the blanks! I've always heard marketing people talk about doing that, but I've never done it, I guess I just figured they (the local paper) wouldn't do it. However I thought, what could it hurt, besides, it only took 5 minutes.
So I completed the form and emailed it to the paper. Well I kind of forgot about it until today when my my mom calls and tells me she seen my news release in the paper!, and it was the Sunday paper too! Wow, you can't beat that! Actually, my brother found it and clipped it out of the paper and gave it to mom. But, I hadn’t told anyone that I had sent it in, so I figure if my brother just happen to fine it and not even be looking for it, then maybe some prospective customer may see it! You can't beat free advertising! Thanks Steve Yankee!
