Getting out there Can't Post

I'm having some trouble with my video sales,I'm just starting out.The sales I have obtained are basically from friends and family. My videos are Hunting videos. This last one has 18 Spring
Gobblerhunts,
and is just as good as the top names, in quality and content. My promblem is distribution of these videos.I want these videos to
get out there.I don't have a marketing strategy, and would like some advise on what steps I need to take to get pointed into the right direction, also I need sponsors, but alot of the big name companies want to know what my marketing strategy is. I'm assuming they mean, how many tapes are you able to sale.Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Getting out there Can't Post

Well, knowing next to nothing about hunting............
Seriously, I'm not certain about your product or your audience.
Do you want to sell the product directly, or have a rep hawk you to vendors?
Is there a mailing list of hunting stores and or gun clubs you can get
access to? Is this an educational product, or just a "come along and watch
us kill something"?
The first thing that comes to mind is if there are products being used
in the video, are they listed or talked about in an advantageous way?
Can you go back and do a "voice over" touting the excellent qualities
of an ACME WIDGIT COMPANY bird caller? Or an XYZ over/under gun?
Ammunition guage/type/make? The leads there are obvious.
By videos, I'm CERTAIN you mean DVDs.
What do you want sponsors for? Again, are they touted as above? Are
they interested in the talent or the general content? Sounds like
you should get our host's marketing course. There's A BUNCH of useful
information there.
Do you have a local access cable network? If you're not selling
the product directly, you can usually get on there and have them
"contact for information".
As for actually selling the product, have a professional look at it
and tear it apart. This ain't about ego. It's about getting out there
with the big dogs in the tall bushes. Again, I'd SERIOUSLY consider
having someone like our host tell you what they'll charge for a consult
to review the product. It won't cost that much and will set you on
a true course.
There's a zillion people who will take your money and waste your time.
Stay the heck away from them. A LEGITIMATE marketing firm might also
the way to go.
START with a decent web site. Best of luck to you!
