Instructional DVDs can be a moneymaker. Here are a couple of things to think about: - If you expect a long life for your product, and a large market, your DVDs should be replicated, not duplicated DVD-R discs. This is a much more expensive process, but replicated DVDs can be copy-protected. Duplicated discs can be copied by anyone with a PC and a DVD burner. - Products that have a shorter lifespan or a limited market are probably not cost-effective to replicate. - If your market is uncertain, Netflix or one of the other on-demand fulfillment services may be the way to go, so you don't have a large investment in stock sitting around. - If you can't come up with ideas on your own, sell the idea of an instructional DVD to clients who DO have special expertise and a potential audience. Jon Cooksey (http://www.elitevideo.com) sells a program of this sort that he calls "Subsidy Video Publishing". - Besides instructional videos, there are many more ways for the wedding videographer to branch out: -Recitals -Dance, bodybuilding, or martial arts contests -Video Biographies -Photo montages -film transfers -video transfers from tape to DVD -Family reunions -school plays -school sporting events -graduations Regards, Doug Graham Panda Productions
