Info Request -- DVD Duplicator and Labeller -- Can't Post

Hello,

I plan to purchase a reasonable digital video duplicator and have spent considerable time researching the web, so far unsuccessfully, looking for a product comparison of low end systems -- approximately $500 to $700 range. The Pioneer has several models that will duplicate from 2 to 5+ dvds and then there is the newer technology that records duo layers (used by full length videos)... And on the high end there is the laser labeler and dvd burner ....

1. Does anyone know of a good comparison of digital video duplicator systems?

2. Could you share your feedback on video duplicators you have used?

3. Also could you recommend a dvd labeling process?

Thank you.

Deborah,

In that price range, your best option is probably the following:
1. Install a couple of DVD recording drives in your PC. I use the Pioneer A-108 (current model is A-109).
2. Buy an Epson R-200 or R-300 printer for labeling. It will print directly on printable disks, removing the risks involved with using stick-on labels. The only difference between the printers is that the R-300 also has slots for memory cards from your digital camera.

This setup can easily turn out 50 to 100 disks in a day, but it does require someone to be present to change disks and to do the printing (the Epson can only print one disk at a time).

If you need unattended operation, then you have to get one of the robotic duplicators that combine DVD burning and printing. The least expensive is the Primera Bravo II, at about $1500 - 1700.
