Looking for sympathy Can't Post

Yesterday was a bitch of a day...

At 11:45, I got a call from an "almost" client. Project had been approved, but waiting on the deposit check. In a typical left hand does not know what the right is doing, they discovered another division had just done a similar project and mine got indefinitely delayed while they regroup.

Thirty minutes later another client where I had already got some time into the project now wants to delay it until January. So I went from having about a 15 week backlog to about a three week backlog in a half hour. I guess next week I have to scramble to find some quick work, but being near the end of the year I am not hopeful I will find much before January.

I guess this is the downside of having a few large corporate clients instead of shooting a wedding every week. But that doesn't make it any easier to swallow.

Re: [DVXGalt] Looking for sympathy [In reply to] Can't Post

That is the exact reason I started doing wedding videos. Initially I did corporate work exclusively. I had 10 projects lined up to sign contracts on as of 9/10/01 then 9/11 happended. Wouldn't you know all 10 of my clients called in the next three days and cancelled on me. My phones did not ring again until January. I had to go get a waitressing job just to subsidize the lose of income.
Thats when I decided to add wedding videography to my service list. I never thought of myself as a wedding videographer. But know it is 90% of my client base. Which is fine by me people are always going to get married so I will always have a job.

So I understand your pain. Corporate work definately has its benefits but, their are too many hands in the mix of any project.
