Asside from word of mouth, what is the most effective thing or things that you have done to generate business? All aspects of your business.

Don't put word of mouth aside. This IS the most effect way to market. You'll never get a better salesman than a happy client.
Your reel is second place to this. You'll find cold calls and ads to little to nothing. Do great work and the word will spread. Next thing ya know, you have to turn folks away.

Re: Marketing. Here's what we did to market our film:
We 4-walled a movie theater (i.e., rented it for three days),
then sent out screener copies of the movie with a press kit (and
promotional candy bar) three weeks before our big premiere.
Out of 7 newspapers we submitted to, five gave us some kind of
a write up. We also took out an inexpensive ad in one of our city's
indie newspapers (this actually drove quite a bit of traffic to
the theater). From there, we took our press clippings and put
togehter another media kit for potential distributors. We got signed
with Spectrum Films. From there we went to the Internet and began
looking for Web sites that review that kind of movie we made and
sent them review copies. Then we started to get some decent reviews
under us. This has helped get the word of mouth going about our
movie. We now have an April 8 release date (Coming out on both

My newsletter is a great marketing tool. It doesn't get me jobs every single time we do an issue, - when it does it is bigger jobs. It also is great for building the 'expert in the area' catergory.

That is my single most but not only. Press Releases, Web-site, classified ads, being a member of my local chambers (getting involved with the chamber is important to this success), Sales calls are just a few.
