Mentioning Fortune 500 clients in promo video Can't Post

I have a corporate client who does consulting and training for Fortune 500 companies. We are producing a couple of promo videos for them. They were not able to get any in-person interviews with representatives from their clients, so we had the CEO talk about some of the work they've done for these clients. What kind of clearances do we need to get (or should we get) to do something like this? Or is it fair game so long as my client (the consutlancy) gives truthful information regarding the scope of the services they provided.

Thanks,
Ron

No clearance required. I can say "Ford Motor Company" on video without getting their permission.

HI Videobear,

Well, it's a little more than just saying the company name. He is describing what services they provided. E.G. "For XYZ corp, we didn't focue on project management, but instead helped them with strategy execution." "One of our clients is ACME, global in nature, with complex systems and organizations." Etc. Most of the comments seem very harmless to me, pretty much just stating the client relationship and the overal general service provided. In one case however, he specifies that the service for them worked great and they are now implementing the changes. That one seems more tricky since he's now speaking on behalf of the client saying what they're doing.

I still think you are OK, unless anything that's being said would give away a company's strategy or proprietary information.

To be safe, though, your client should send a copy of the proposed script to his clients and make sure they're OK with it.
