Moving to HDV in 2007 Can't Post

So my plan is locked.

I have decided to move toward filming and editing in HDV by the 2007 season. I truly believe that HD will become the norm much sooner then some expect, and I feel HDV is the least a professional videographer should be doing as soon as you can.

I have started by adding an upgrade charge to any bride that wants HDV in 2007. Last night I booked my first HDV package by offering a $300.00 early booking upgrade to their package. I feel if I book 20 weddings in 2007 that choose the upgrade, I would have $6000.00 back in my pocket to help with my transition and expenses..

I have always been aggressive when new technology is coming and I think this is one aspect of the industry that will allow us to stand out from the "uncle joe" video that some brides think is good enough.

I have seen many debates about HDV but it is the obvious next big thing and I would like to demo it at the end of the 2006 at a few bridal shows.

Outside of the few that are already using HDV cameras, does anyone else have a plan to move over in this manner?

My original plan was to go HDV for the 2007 wedding season, but the prices and quality of current HDV cameras (plus the Gearshift facilitated workflow) made the decision to do it this year easy. Here's my thinking....when the 2007 brides come looking, I'll have 2006 HDV weddings to show as demos.

The one thing that you should not forget about is the amount of upgrade money you will get from the sale of your older cameras...makes the upgrade cost even lower.
