I have to agree here. You can not use popular music for a corporate event. ASCAP and BMI will look for this type of violation, and they will come down hard on the corporation. The corporation will claim ignorance and blame you. Don't risk it. : Wrong, while ASCAP & BMI will often look the other way for wedding videos, not so for corporate use. : They don't consider a COMPANY private. It's a public domain and it's not worth the LAW Suit if they decide to make an issue of it. : Also, keep in mind, that you have no control over where that video will be shown. Not worth the risk. : Just my two cents! : ----------------------------------------------------------------- : : : : I would like to use a popular song as background for a video that will be shown one time to a group of our company execs? Can I use it without violating copywrite laws? : : : No. : : : Regards, : : : Doug Graham : : Hi Jack, : : As much as I agree with Doug for his expertise on video from this forum and other aspects : : of this crazy business we are all in, I would disagree to an extent with Dougs answer. : : I believe it is OK to do so as long as it is for private use and : : no further. If it is shown to the pubilc in any way than positively not. : : Again I show no disrespect to Dougs answer at all. : : Thanks, jes
