Please help! Can't Post

I recently shot some footage of my friends performing at a party that Nike was havpossiblying. A few days after the party one of the Nike reps i exchanged info with asked me if i would sell them a copy of the performance so that they could have it for global use in trade show booths, exhibits, retail and also for use on the web. i told them yes but that i would have to get back to them with a price. can someone advise me on what i should charge and possibly what i should include in a contract allowing them to use the footage but also allowing myself to use the footage. they are interested in the raw footage as well as my edited version. the length of the raw footage is approx. 40 mins and the editing took me approx. 6 hours. any advice will help! Thanks - Tajon III

What's your normal hourly rate for corporate clients? I would charge that for the work (for example $75 x 7 hours = $525). Then you have a choice to make of either discounting it to keep rights for yourself, selling them exclusive rights at your corporate rate, or increasing the price if they want exclusive rights. Personally, I would lean toward the first option because when I do corporate work at my hourly rate, that includes giving the client all rights to the work. However, this is a special situation since you were just doing this on your own and they asked about buying it afterward, so maybe offer it at your normal rate giving them rights to use, but retaining rights to use for yourself as well.

Definitely work in that you retain rights to use it yourself. That way you can use some of it in a demo reel and list them as a previous client.
