Producing for TV Production

Hello all, my name is Dan Deck from Delray Beach, Florida. My web site is www.aquaticvideo.com I am new to this forum, but have been shooting underwater video for over 3 1/2 years. I have over 400 dives with a Bluefin Pro V-900 w/ ext monitor, manual control backplate, 100 deg. ultra wide angle lens, etc. Please see my web site for more info. Now, I have been asked by a professional firm (I'm under a non-disclosure contract, so I can't tell you everything yet) to do a full video production for TV broadcast, aiming at National Geographic and/or Discovery Channel. Yes, it is a dream job and I am an amateur independant video producer with aspirations of going pro, like most of us. And I also have a very secure full time regular job of over 17 years. I have produced a commercial DVD and some smaller projects. Also won Beneath The Sea 2003 "Best of Show-Video". So I have some clue what I am doing. The commercial DVD is what sold this firm on my talents. The project is a number a Spanish Galleons from the 1500 fleet have been found, and this company with full salvage rights, has told me they want me to produce a documentary for TV. No problems so far. Early next week, the salvage boat will be in place and they want me there for the first shooting. Then he asked "How much do you charge?" Here's the problem. I haven't got a clue. I told him "We'll discuss it after the first dive". What I need to know is (1) How much do I charge? (2) How do I charge? (3) When do I charge? This project is the kind of thing that we all hope to do, and I am fortunate for getting it and don't want to blow it over money. It is very hard for us indie's to get into the big time, and I have a great oportunity, just need a little help on money matters, and how to promote it for broadcast. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated, especially from any pros. Thanks!
