Question on commercial contacts Can't Post

I am wondering for TV commercials if you go to the businesses or an Ad agency to get sales (or both). If to the business, do you then need to contact an agency for the client?

Thanks.

Jim D.

Yep, it works both ways, Jim.
Smaller advertisers generally don't use agencies. You contact
them directly -if they have an agency, get the contact name
and number and call the agency; see if you can bid on a
commercial or two.
Larger clients generally have ad agencies already. You can
look up agency info and client affiliations in the resource
section of your local library -I think SRDS (Standard Rate
& Data Services) publishes a Directory of Ad Agencies as well
as a matching Directory of Advertisers. Or, get out the
Yellow Pages and start making calls.
Keep in mind that agencies create commercials for their
clients. In most cases, calling them with a 'great idea
for a commercial for Acme Auto' isn't gonna get them too
excited. They hire producers to make the commercials that
they wrote. This is a common misconception that I ran
across a LOT when I was in the agency biz.
Good luck!
Steve
