Re-record someone else's music Can't Post

Hi people, this is a question regarding music rights. If I find a song that I like but would like to record it myself and use it in a video project, do I pay royalties? What is the proper procedure to be able to accomplish this?
Thanks,
Kurt Raihn

Popular music is copyrighted. Getting permission to use it is difficult and expensive. There are several clearance agencies; one of the largest is the Harry Fox Agency. Contact them for details.
There are royalty-free music libraries you can buy and use freely. Try The Music Bakery or Crank City for some examples of good work.

There is copyright. If you are going to record yourself performing it, you need to obtain
those rights.(very reasonable fee) the Harry Fox Agency handles that for the most part. They would be the best to talk with.
There will probably be something else involved in using it for a video.
