Small Business Promotional Clip Can't Post

My main line of work is wedding video. I do not normally take on corporate work. This weekend, I completed a 12 minute 8 sec promotional video to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of a company belonging to my brother and his sons. The target market is that company's clients at the annual golf day - (ambush marketing?)

Are there any suggestions for improvements next time round? Sorry it is just under 20 Mb. Is there a better way to get the file size down, for posting on the internet, without losing quality?

What would you charge in the USA for something like this? I had to source all the historical visual material.

Howard, nicely done. I'd charge about $6,000 U.S. for something like
this. Then, of course, there is the matter of the 'family discount.' But
it looks as if the company is doing just fine and they DID sponsor
a big golf outing, so I'd probably charge them full fare.

Thank you, Steve

A member of our local Association said to charge R7,000 which is about US$1,143 Frown. I should have mentioned that the voice over and music had already been completed, so I had no worries there.

I will have to take into account the Cost Of Living here. In the "Big Mac Test" a big mac costs here about R14 - which is about US$2.28.

Plenty to think about! Wink

Nicely done. My biggest concern is that 12 minutes is very, very long. I started looking at my watch at about three minutes. For promotional video I think five minutes is about as long as is sustainable if you want to hold your audience's interest. There is, in my view anyway, far too much information being presented. As is so often the case, less just might be more.

Thanks Rick & Matt

I agree that it is too long. In previous years Exim have wanted it under five minutes and it has ended up at 6. Ja well, that's OK!

This year, Exim wrote the script, arranged the voice over and presented me with the CD, complete with music. The sound quality and voice over were much better that in previous years, when I sorted out the whole thing.

With the length, I had to work with what I was given. Good experience, though. With winter coming up, I wouldn't mind doing similar projects.

I could use the same studio and artist. They charged R2,000, which is about US$326. Not bad!

Thanks for the input.
