Starting out..... Can't Post

need some ideas on how to get customers when you're starting out-I just want to get my name out there as soon as possible (my yellow pages ad doesnt come out until December) - any ideas? Maybe direct mail or email? But where would I find bride's addresses? I need anything and everything! Let me know what worked for you! Thanks! :0)

Re: Starting out..... Can't Post

First, get a website posted up. If you don't already have one,
you can post one for free www.doteasy.com (no ads). Mine's has
been there for several months now and I have had to pay a dime,
except for domain name.
Second, once you get webwsite, post your address on wedding
directories on the web. That will get you some traffic.
Third, try to attend some of wedding professionals organization
in your city. They can help you find a good magazine or
other places to advertise. My ad has not got me any bookings
directly, but the magazine does send me an almost monthly list
of brides' names that I try to call and send out postcards to.
Anyway, those are a few of my ideas. It's a hard business to
break into--depending on your competition and experience--but
hang in there.

We are a new cd, dvd, and videotape duplication company and we've only been in business since 9/8/03.
Here are marketing strategies that have worked for us already.
Our web site has been receiving visitors and emails from all over the country. You definitely need a web site and one that the search engines can find. If you need any help with a web site and/or search engine strategies, visit http://www.ultimatewebdesigning.com.
We left fliers at bridal shops to advertise to the brides that we can transfer their wedding video to dvd and make copies to distribute to friends and family.
Our first week, we mailed post cards to businesses that we see as potential clients: production companies, law firms, dance studios, ad agencies, etc. We said "Duplication Media is now open!!!" and listed our services. We printed and mailed 100 post cards for under $60. One recipient of the post card has already given us five orders totaling more than $300.
We mailed press releases to the local newspapers and one did an article announcing we're open. They will do a full article after we've been open for a few months. One of the newspapers wasn't going to mention our opening until we bought advertising. The first customer who mentioned our ad paid for the first month's worth of advertising (4 weekly issues).
Our yellow page ad is to come out in November.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Good luck!!!
Jason

Volunteer! I got my company name out there by promoting the business. A friend called up one day and gave me a number.
I ended up video taping celebrities. Also, diversify your business.
