The tax question Can't Post

Can we tax what we do? I've heard that some people do and some don't. I heard that you can't tax services, which I don't understand. Most services eventually result in a product right? What are your thoughts?

Re: [JRVideography] The tax question [In reply to] Can't Post

Once again, asking tax questions on an international forum is useless. Every state, country and county has different rules. Heck, it is hard enough to get a straight, accurate answer from your local tax authority never mind on an open forum. If you must ask such a question at least give your city, state or country so the 'expert d'jour' here can make some kind of innaccurate statement (to which you should pay absolutely no attention)

It depends on what state you're in. Some states specifically tax
services and some don't.

I went to a small business tax expert when I first started. He didn't
know off hand and told me to ask around what others in my
profession do.

I went to my local library and looked in the index to the state
statutes and right there there were specific laws on
how the taxes are handled for the profession.
