Using MIX MUSIC In video for profit Can't Post

Around my area we have a local form of mix music that dj's usually make. Most of it is all the same but just played in different order. For example one of the most popular one's is a mix composed of the theme from the old "Godzilla" movie played at 5x to 10x the speed (maybe not that fast but it is faster than the original speed)mix with some drum beats to make a mix, or some dj's or producer's make up there own sounds and mix' but most of it comes from some other dj(it is almost like a pyramid pattern but no one knows who's at the top). These dj's then put out mix cd's at local stores or sell them personally. So there are at least a good 300 to 500 mix cd' floating around the city. My question is if I were to use one of these mixes or multiple different so you could not tell who it came from in my video which I would be selling for profit, would anyone of these dj's be able to sue me ? Because the dj's are just either replacing or adding elements to already existing mixes and then selling them.

The short answer is yes you can be sued. You are taking someone elses stuff and attempting to profit from it. Will you get caught? Who knows, but once its out there its out there. Wouldn't it be much better to spend a few dollars on some buy-out tracks or paying some local jock for his or her music or making it yourself rather than spending time trying to figure out how to beat the local DJ out of his or her work. Drop by the club or pick up the phone and give these guys a call. You may be surprised that they'd be willing to let you use bits of the tract for free or for just a credit on the video etc. COLLABORATE.

That was my first option, but in actuality I could do a mix myself and make it the soundtrack?
