business ideas Can't Post

hello all,
I wanted to start a post where we can exchange ideas abut how to make money with our video equipment and experience. I'll list some of the basics, some new ideas I have to share and I hope others will follow with some fresh ideas.
1. Wedding & Event Videography
2. Funeral & Tribute Videos
3. Real Estate
4. Video Transfers

What about producing how-to DVD's. There are an abundance of how to books but very few DVD's. We have the ability to shoot creatively, create custom DVD menus, and a professional image product.
Or, what about making demo videos for doctors, say for instance, producing for gastric bypass... you get permission from a doctor to document a gastric bypass surgery from start to finish.... then produce a 10-20 minute video for doctors across the country to give to all patients thinking about getting the surgery. the doctors give them for free to the patient would save valuble office time explaining the things the patient could watch in the video. this idea could be implemented to any cosmetic surgery... amoung numerous other procedures. Doctors who perform this procedure would buy the dvd's from you, at $5 or so apiece, in bulk, and you give the doctor who allowed you to document them a small percent of each video sold, or, give them unlimited suply of the video you produced free for use for their practice.

Well, those are a few idea.. anyone else have any good ones... post them here... we can learn from each other.. and become more efficient business people making money in different arenas. Or... if you have an idea you don't want everyone to steal because you are pursuing it, but you want feedback... just PM me and we can exchange ideas privately. Hope we all can make more money from this post.

Talk to you all soon...
Damon

Hello,
A couple of add-ons for weddings to increase the overall package:
Love Story Invitations - Create a romantic love story video and include a segment with the bride and groom inviting everyone to their wedding. Create a DVD or an interactive CD of the video to include all of the important information. This is great for technical loving couples.

How-to videos for physicians waiting rooms is another idea to expand on your previous idea. The physician could show the videos to give the patients something valuable to watch to explain office policies, important new medical advice, information that the office personnel must give patients repeatedly would be helpful.

Any company that has a product or service that is difficult to explain or show is a candidate for video.

If a company has an interesting video on their website about their product, people will seek out that company's website to view it, and others will link to it. Sort of like the BMW videos that were so hot a while back.

Have a great day!

How about making How-To DVD's on top selling video games currently on the market. Simply go find a wizkid good at playing popular games. Pay, say $250 for his / her time showing the audience how to get through a game. Edit the material into something entertaining, and then distribute it.

This would be an easy project as you would only have to film the subject (wizkid) briefly before and after each segment. The rest can be captured video from the game itself and maybe audio dialog from the subject explaining how to play or get through a game.

I can imagine this taking say a day to complete the shoot. Then maybe another day to edit and to produce the DVD ready for distribution. The final product could sell for say $19 - $39 dollars each making a nice profit.

You may need to get permission from the game developer(s) for using footage of the particular game on the DVD, however I feel that would not be too difficult in obtaining.

Hope this gives someone some inspiration and would hope others come forth with their ideas as well.

totaltraining.com do a good business creating and distributing training DVD's on various software vendors products like Dreamweaver, Photoshop etc. But I didn't think they did How-To's on games?

I don't think a game manufacturer would charge a fee for using footage of their game on your DVD as this would be free publicity for them. If you created a hit DVD that sold many 000's then I could imagine some game makers sending you a copy of every new game they released so that you could create a How-To DVD for it. In short, this would help the game makers bring their game to the market which would mean more business for them.

I understand Microsoft don't charge multimedia developers for using, or showing how to use Windows XP etc. Thats why you see so many products out there on learning how to use Windows XP. Just as I wrote the last sentence I thought of another DVD How-To; A DVD showing users how to hack or get more out of Windows XP. Sort of a Tips and Tricks product. I don't think there are any out on the market yet. I know there are many books on the subject which would be another indicator that its a hot topic, more reason to create a How-To DVD on it!

Regards :)
