Re: is dv filmmaking changing the industry ? Can't Post

Great question! We ask that to ourselves every day!
We come from a background rooted in tape to tape video editing.Started
in 3/4" then to Beta then to Video Toaster, then to early days of non-linear
now to DV, DVcam and Final Cut Pro. We've purchased equipment along the way
and hope that it's paid for itself vs: renting. We are professionals. We work
with clients daily and treat them with respect and fairness. BUT, we
are now facing a video world filled with instant videographers,
instant editors and instant producers...all selling themselves and
their newest tech equipment within the once professional arena.
Competition is always good. The cream rises to the top etc. But now the
arena is getting very confused...TV commercials showing 6 year
olds editing video projects on a home PC or Mac that are just as good
as the pros confuse would be customers...amatuers offering their services for
"free" in a cost cutting work place confuses things even more.
In essence, it's gone the route of desk-top publishing.
Making everyone and instant art director.
So yes...I think that DV is dramatically changing the video industry
as well as the film making indusrty. I am however very excited about
the independent films that will be made as a result of DV, 24p
digital projectors, etc. Best of luck with you project....\
