Re: miking a legal disposition Can't Post

Usually no more than four people are miked during a deposition (although
I once miked six people)- One for the witness, one for the
witness' attorney (if there is one) one for the deposing attorney
and one for the photog.
Radio Shack mics, about $30, are more than adequate for a depo.
They're cheap, available and if a teed off witness or attorney
stomps out of the room with it on, you're not losing a $150 Sony
Lav. The wires are about 15' long and I have never needed a longer
length. They are not XLR, but 1/8" plugs which I mix together and
feed into my camera. BTW, most attorneys aren't interested in XLR
mics, SVHS, or powered amps. A good camera(I use a Panasonic 456)
is all that is needed. I leave my JVC X2B at the office.
But for more answers, check out the American Guild of Court
Videographers (www.AGCV.com) I was skeptical at first, but their
classes taught me so much that has come in handy in the past
year. Or e-mail me directly and I will answer your questions as
best I can.
