reaplacing VHS camcorders Can't Post

Greetings,
I need to replace two full size AG 188 Panasonic VHS camcorders. I work at a hospital and we check these out to staff who are mostly recording meetings and in-services. Need a camcorder that can provide at least 90 minutes of record time and be extremely easy to use. Am thinking of the newer DVD camcorders, as I want to get away from tape. Do these take special DVD discs or will any DVD recordable disc work? How robust is this format? Also trying to stay within $600 price range per camcorder. Any advise or recommendations on specific models would be appreciated.

JVC has a small consumer camcorder that uses a hard drive to record the footage. JVC Everio GZMG77 2.0MP CCD 30GB HDD Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom.
