recrding telephone testimonias Can't Post

Hello..I know a number of you have been recording voice mail messages to use in your demos as testimonials

What equipmnent have you used to record these messages from the phone?

I have tried a few 'cheap"; devises and they do not work well.

What is the best way to record a voice mail from the telephone?

I taped my wireless mic to the listening end of the phone and captured the audio onto a mini dv tape from my camera.. then captured the "footage" and just used the audio - ( PS_ re-encode the wav file to mp3 for the computer... less space and dowload time!)

Good luck!

How about one of these from Radio Shack?

I've done the same thing myself with excellent results. Sometimes the easiest way is the best way.

Hi all,

Since I'm also a podcaster doing remote interviews, I've bought the "good stuff". The Telos One isn't cheap ($600) but when you appreciate the problem of a full duplex circuit with echo, you realize the necessity of a digital telephone hybrid. The actual recording can be either on an MP3 player or one's PC via recording software. If your budget is limited and you have broadband internet, a very cool alternative is Skype.

But perhaps I'm off topic - if all you want to do is have a digital recording of your voicemail, there are free and low-cost VMAIL services that digitally record the callers voice. For instance, I use MaxEMAIL for a server-provided Fax service. When someone sends me a fax, MaxEMAIL converts it to a PDF document and automatically EMAILs it to my inbox. And if someone calls in on the fax line, it save their voice as an MP3 file and EMAILs it to me as an attachment, too.

Regards, Michael
Happy Trails to you... until we meet again

I've heard that radio shack has a few inexpensive solutions for patching directly into your phone line. I haven't used any of them but a guy that interviewed me for a podcast the other day used it and seems to be happy.
