video store income Can't Post

My husband and I are looking to open a video store. We have found an excellent location and are quite knowledgeable in the area of movies. However, we have no clue if running a store will make ends meet. Is there any data out there about how much revenue a video store creates. Or is anyone willing to share their annual salary with me? Just to give you some guidelines, we collectively make around $60,000 and are living in the city of Chicago. We would need to make this much plus cover the monthly expenses of the store. Any and all help would be most appreciated. It can't be said enough, but this website and forum are extremely helpful. ~Cheers

If you search on the internet for businesses that are for sale, you can get an idea of how profitable some places are. In my research, I have found that the take home of a video store can be anywhere from $30,000 to $60,000 (after all bills are paid) depending upon location. Obviously, some do much more and some close down, but that seemed to be the common range I found. Also, when opening the store, search for places that provide start-up libraries of titles. This can be a huge help and a huge money-saver.
