video taping school show/harry fox Can't Post

I plan to produced videos for local school of their band, choir performances. They cover songs from the past that are under copyright. I would love to sell copies to the performers, but I was informed that I would have to contact the Harry Fox Agency to gain premission. Should I get a set list a couple of months ahead of time and send that in. If I can't get premission should I advice the director to change the songs they'll perform. Or does it really matter if I stay under a number of units sold to the performers. Thanks for any input.

First plan of attack is to see what rights the school has purchased for the
copyrighted material, this is especially true of stage performances, they may not have purchased the rights to have it audio or videotaped,
if they have it's a different story.
Best advice is to get as much information as you can and then find
an entertainment attorney.
you can get a lot of information off the net, not all of it correct. heck I might
even be wrong, I don;t think so, but it has happened before ;-)
