I'm going in the direction of starting a production company. I don't yet fully know what that entails, but producing video/film is my goal. I currently have two projects to get done, the first of the two I have a budget. So I'm wondering how to budget and what pieces are the major expense. I am looking to hire a DP, editor, actors (probably not any speaking lines). Another question is how and where to find a DP. I have talked with a few, and I seem to come away with it thinking they want the sketch to be done their way, not mine or the customer's. That has been frustrating.
I was given a total budget for a one minute segment to be used on their website (streaming) - $3000. I believe it requires some skilled camera work, as the sketch revolves around vehicles, so there will be lots of mounted camera shots (interior and exterior). There will also be shots using depth of field as well. Is 3K a decent budget to work with? This is my first project, so any hints or tips are welcome.
