: : : you guys obviously do not have a clue about filmmaking. The producer of any show, feature or film is the sole owner of the program. It's his baby, his rights, and usually his money upfront. The director is merely hired help, with creative input. : : You didn't read what I wrote...I SAID the producer was the top gun. : : However, I'd disagree that the producer is the "sole owner" and that it is usually "his money upfront". He's usually got a studio behind him, or a pool of investors. They're the ones putting up the money, and the ones with major ownership interest. : : Regards, : : Doug Graham : and it's not always his baby, any tarantino film will tell you that. think the weinstein bros could have done somthing as great as any of his films? The producer is NOT the top gun in all cases. Im directing a feature film of wihich I "the Director" chose him "the Producer". If you really want to know, the person who controls the script is the one in charge unless you give up all the rights. Also, the amount you make as said in an earlier posting is the amount you negotiate for! That could never be truer. Its what you bring to the table , what you think your worth, and what everyone else is willing to agree that your worth.
