.4x or .3x Century Optics fisheye? Can't Post

I have a Sony camcorder that I am using to film my skateboarding and it has a filter diameter of 37mm. I dont know if I should buy the .3x or .4x fisheye by Century Optics. I know the .4x is made directly for the 37mm, but if I get the .3x is it going to have a lot of vignetting? Please help me.

I have the Century Optics .4x Fisheye. The differance in "vignetting", or bending I presume isn't that great. Of course it doesn't quite parrallel the .3X it's still got nice bend, and it's very wide. I'd say get the .4x unless you're willing to fork over the $1000 that the .3x costs.

the .3x will not have vignetting on a 37mm filter diameter even when u use the necessary 37mm to 58mm stepup ring. Only thing that might be a problem is the weight of the lens.
I used to have a .3 on my old sony hi8. The only problem i ever ran into was the step up ring getting stuck on the camera a couple times because of the weight of the lens. This was before the .4 was available. Personally I'd go with the .4 if i were u. It's half the price and weighs a whole lot less which means less stress on your camera, especially if u have one of those new small 1 chip dv cameras.

.3 is a little over 600, not 1000. [In reply to] Can't Post

about the .3x fisheye [In reply to] Can't Post

the reason being is that i can get the .3x fisheye for $589 brand new and the .4x is somewhere around $300. Will the .3x have a lot wider viewing measurement? Another thing that it is nagging my decision is that I know im getting the VX1000, but if I get the .3x I can use this for both. Any other advice for me?

the .3 is 650 and the .4 is 300, if you have a 37mm do not get a .3, it will be a horrible waste of money unless you are planning on getting a trv-900 and only a trv900, cause the .3
for the vx1000 is bayonet mount and wont work with anything else.

Actually I believe that they raised the price.

technically u could use the .3 w/ the 58mm thread on the vx1000 if u buy a stepup ring but your are gonna have vignetting. I'd recommend saving your money and getting the .4 or don't even get that and put it all towards a vx1000.

yeah, but..... [In reply to] Can't Post

yeah, but it still isn't $1000. There was supposed to be a 100 increase, but I still see it being advertised at it's original price(i'm not talking about the price list on
century's page. those prices are ridiculous).

Okay guys [In reply to] Can't Post

You get the new .3x fisheye for 37 mm. I don't think there is vignetting and it costs THE SAME as the .4 did. It might be wider than the .4 for 37, which is better right?
