16 bit issue Can't Post

Okay...whenever I take a tape that has been recorded on our DSR-40 and try to play it in the VX1000, I get a stuttery picture and the viewfinder flashes 16bit. I can't digitize this way. Is this a setting on the camera that can be changed?

The DCR-VX1000 will play back 16 bit audio. Are you sure the tape is DV format SP mode, not DVCAM? ~tom
