4 pin vs. 6 pin.	Can't Post

Hi,
I'm just getting into NLE, can someone explain when and why 4 pin connections are made vs. 6 pin connections? And, if i'm looking to connect a GV-D900 to a DV Raptor what number of pins would each end of such a cable have ? ?
