AUTOFOCUS PROBLEMS Can't Post

So is the autofocus on the VX1000 really really bad? I shot a bunch of footage in auto like an idiot and now that I'm editing with Final Cut Pro, I'm seeing a bunch of focus problems. (my eyes are really bad) It goes out for half second and then pops back in but I can't tell if the whole shootg is out of focus? Is that a possibility? I can't fix miniscule focus problems with my sharpen video on Final Cut, but if the whole thing is out of focus that's a different problem. Any thoughts?
