A Question On White Balance Can't Post

How often do you guys adjust white balance when you do an event such as a wedding. Weddings typically are in Churches which are pretty bright. The reception is usually fairly dark. Do you white balance before the wedding and again before the reception?

And when you do whitebalnce, does the sheet of white paper go all the way up to the lense touching it, or do you hold the paper a distance from the lense?

I use a PD-170 to shoot with.

A good rule of thumb is any time you change a setting such as iris, shutter speed etc or the lighting changes in any way you should white balance again. You should place the paper in the main area of light you are going to be shooting at and white balance by zooming all the way in until the white paper fills the viewfinder. If you can't fill the viewfinder then move the camera closer until you can. Also, when shooting outside for hours, occasionally re-whitebalance.
Always check your monitor after whitebalancing to be sure everything looks right and try re-whitebalancing until it does.
Good Luck,
Kevin

do you carry small cards on you for white balance, or a larger sheet that you go fetch each time you change?
