Advice on Wide Angle for VX2K: Century vs. Kenko Can't Post

Hey everyone,
I ebayed my VX1000 last week and upgraded to a VX2K. It came today, and I took it out for a test spin on my Glidecam 2000. It lived up to everything I expected. But I need some help with a decision on a new wide angle adaptor.
Anybody have any experience with either the Century 0.6x Wide Angle Adaptor or the Kenko ProWide 0.65x? At Tristate Camera they're about a 15 buck difference. Here's the deal though:
The Century (0.6x) lens is a single element 58mm mount thread. The website says that the lens yields "a 40% wider angle of view and minimal distortion."
The Kenko (0.65x) lens contains 3 elements with a 58 mm mount thread and an 82mm filter thread. Their website says that the lens "will increase the angle of view by 66%"
What I don't get is how the Century lens, which goes wider at 0.6x only yields a 40% increase, while the Kenko lens which is longer at 0.65x increases the frame view by 66%? Is it because the Kenko lens has three elements? Both websites claim that there will be no vignetting because of the 58mm mount thread.
I have a 37mm 0.42x Kenko lens (also 3 elements) for my Sony Hi8, which is nice and wide and very crisp--there is slight vignetting that can be corrected with zoom. I have never shot on a Century lens.
Does anybody understand what the hell I'm talking about and can someone please offer me some sound technical advice about which lens is actually wider and what the distortion is on either? Thanks to everyone!
P.S. I'm not really interested in the Canon GL-1 lens cause it's only 0.7x, and that aint' really enough sometimes.
