Lars personally, I have used the Bogen 3011N tripod and 501 Head with great success, shown here together. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=220389&is=REG&addedTroughType=search Very sturdy, and I preffer the wing screw locking knobs as they are quick and easy to adjust quickly if needed. As for your purchase of a Glidecan Pro, have you ever used a Steadicam device? If not, remember, it will take practice to master. Since you are spening the money, you should seriously look into the new Merlin. It is an incredible piece of machinery, as I got a first hand demo last Tues. (at our BVA meeting) from Garrett Brown (The inventor) and it is incerdible. Smaller and lighter than current glidecams and steadicams and manufactured out of light weight (less than a can of soda), and should require a lower learning curve than the glidecams. Although it should be easier to use (balance), it will take practice to learn like and steadicam device, as it is a delicate insturment. Keep in mind though that steadicams aren't made for use all day and can be fatigueing, shoot 10-15 minutes and ut to camera 2 and repeat again, then to tripod for stationary, so you will be transferring often back to your tripod on shoots. It would be best used in at least a 2 camera setup, where one camera is wide to medium and you with Merlin taking great moving shots, and then transfer back to tripod for stationary shooting as well. This way you can have a constant footage (Camera 2) to cut away to without a break in your shooting. Since it is so compact and small it is easier to carry and shoot, as well as travel. There is even a tripod adapter that enables you to switch from the Merlin (remove camera) and place on a tripod in about 10 seconds. It was mentioned that there will probably be accessories later on for it, like a lanc control in the hand grip, wireless adapter, and more. Shown here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=382099&is=REG&addedTroughType=search I am not a personal fan of the Sony on camera lights, although convenient and inexpensive, the light source is a bit too hot and harsh for my taste, but if diffused will work a bit better. I personally use and love the PAG C6 light system, http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=278994&is=REG&addedTroughType=search and others here are very fond of the Frezzi Mini-Fill http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=239646&is=REG&addedTroughType=search Both produce great diffused lghting for evenly distributed light. BTW, you didn't mention if you already shoot with a camera, or will this be your first? Also what are you using besides IRivers for audio. On camera shotgun, wireless (this is a must in my book). If you get the VX2100, and want wireless feed and shotgun mic to your camera then you would need an XLR box like a Beachtek to feed into your camera. If you want at least shotgun mic, better than on camera mic, I woudl then go with the Rode Video Mic http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=363083&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation which plugs right into your 1/8 audio jack. If you get a PD170, you would already have the XLR inputs built in. BTW if you do get a PD170, make sure you replace the suplied camera mike, as it's crap (I would recommend either a ME66 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=373969&is=REG&addedTroughType=search or a AT897 (extremely popular camera mic) http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=300615&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation shown here). The rest of your list is good.
