I was afraid of the same thing (especially given the older PD-150s hiss problem) but I called Sony's POSC service center and they told me that no matter where I got the camera, I can just send it for a free fix. It doesn't seem the voided warranty thing applies to their "pro" cameras, if they even enforce it on any products. So I got one in perfect condition (< 30 hours use) on Ebay for $2500. I knew I wanted DVCAM (locked audio, SMPTE timecode, and XLR inputs) so the PD100A and the PD150 were the only cameras I was really considering. (Any higher-end projects and I'll rent a 35mm film camera or maybe even HDTV!) I was really glad that finding this deal put the PD150 in my desired price range. Hope this helps. -Mark : I want to buy a new PD-150 and have come across a variety of offers. Some as much as $500 apart. The authorized dealers charge a litte more than non-authorized competitors. What is the deal? Is there something lost in a non-authorized dealer transaction that may affect future claims?
